Emma Woodhouse Receives Dorothy Reiner Mulroy Award
Senior Emma Woodhouse is the recipient of the 2025 Dorothy Reiner Mulroy Award for outstanding academic ability and leadership.
Woodhouse is a chemistry and neuroscience (neurobiology track) major who led DU softball as team captain and a nationally recognized pitcher. A Mazzuchelli Scholar, she has been named to the Dean鈥檚 list for each of her semesters at Dominican and was recognized as Outstanding Senior in Chemistry in 2025.
Woodhouse will give the Mulroy Address during the undergraduate commencement ceremony on May 4.
鈥淚鈥檓 very honored to receive the Mulroy award, as it is extremely rewarding to know my hard work and dedication have been recognized by the faculty here at Dominican,鈥 Woodhouse said. 鈥淣ot only do I hold myself to exceptionally high standards in the classroom, I also find it rewarding to serve others and give back to my peers."
Described by one of her professors as an inspiration to current and future students, Woodhouse has worked as an undergraduate teaching assistant, a Peer-Led Team Learning leader, a physics and Academic Success Center tutor, and a mentor to first-year students in STEM disciplines.
As a student-athlete, Emma鈥檚 outstanding performance on the mound earned her a spot on the NACC鈥檚 All-Conference 1st Team and 1st Team All-Region, as well as runner-up conference player of the year in 2024, pitcher of the week recognition, and runner-up National Player of the Week. She also served as vice president of Dominican鈥檚 Student Athletic Advisory Committee, the voice between student athletes and university administration.
Woodhouse plans to attend medical school and become a physician.
鈥淒ominican has instilled in me a drive for excellence in all I do,鈥 she said. 鈥淲hether that is in the classroom or on the softball field, I strive to be the best version of myself. I have also formed many invaluable relationships here at Dominican that will help aid my future endeavors. This has shown me the importance of building connections with not just faculty members, but my peers as well.鈥
