Many areas of study and areas of industry cross paths with sustainability issues. Open to students in all disciplines of study, our innovative curriculum allows you to leverage your sustainability coursework鈥攁nd if planned carefully with your academic advisor鈥攆ulfill core requirements for your major. This interdisciplinary approach will help you develop a diverse understanding of environmental protection and sustainability challenges. Working side-by-side with expert faculty, you鈥檒l explore creative sustainable solutions through courses in fashion, communications, political science, nutrition and much more. As you navigate the program, you鈥檒l gain an understanding of our natural environment and learn how sustainability policies and practices can improve local communities and beyond.
Two In-demand Tracks
Based on your career interests, you鈥檒l choose from one of two high-impact tracks that will prepare you to step into sustainable career roles. Grounded in science, both options offer opportunities for experiential learning through community engagement, ensuring you鈥檒l be equipped with the skills and confidence to create meaningful impact in your chosen field.
- Sustainability Studies and Global Policy (17 Credit Hours)
In our Sustainability Studies and Global Policy track, you鈥檒l analyze the intersection of environmental science, business and government while gaining expertise to create and implement sustainable practices within organizations and communities. - Sustainability Studies and Ethical Leadership (17 Credit Hours)
Our Sustainability Studies and Ethical Leadership track focuses on the intersection of environmental science, ethics, and social responsibility, preparing you to lead initiatives and advocate for sustainable solutions in diverse contexts.
CBL and Capstone (30 hours)
Our community-based learning capstone is designed to provide you with more hands-on experience to care for our planet. You鈥檒l complete a minimum of 30 hours of volunteer service in a community or campus green space, arranged in consultation with your academic advisor. The course also allows for portfolio work with an advisor and can be taken alongside other classes to grant you flexibility for your busy schedule. You may be eligible to opt out of this requirement if your CP (career practicum) credit is fulfilled through relevant equivalent documented experience or prior community-based learning experiences.
